About Mel
I've always believed your business should feel like you.
Not a version of you that's been sanitised for a boardroom. Not a brand that looks like everyone else in your industry. A genuine, confident extension of who you are – something you feel proud to put your name on.
That belief has shaped everything I've done across more than 20 years working in communications, marketing, and strategy – from agency life with C-suite clients, to government and corporate roles, to building my own practice helping business owners find their voice and their momentum.
How I got here
I started my career at a communications agency, and I quickly learned something that has stayed with me ever since: the best results happen when you have the ear of the decision-maker. Working directly with CEOs and senior leaders meant ideas could move fast, strategies could actually land, and real change was possible.
But agency life is relentless. Deadlines are non-negotiable, expectations are high, and the pressure is constant. I found yoga and breathwork not as a trend, but as a survival tool – and then as something far more powerful than that. A way to start each day clear-headed, grounded, and genuinely ready to do great work.
When I saw what those same tools could do for the business owners and leaders I was working with – the ones lying awake at 2am, spinning on decisions, stuck in perfectionism – I knew I had to bring both worlds together.
What I bring to the table
I'm a Bachelor of Communications (Public Relations) graduate from Edith Cowan University – Honour Roll, three years running – and a qualified yoga instructor with eight years of teaching experience across vinyasa, yin, and restorative practices. I also teach breathwork techniques including kumbhuka, which is one of the most effective tools I know for calming the nervous system and improving sleep.
On the marketing side, I've worked across an extraordinary range of sectors – government agencies, local councils, legal firms, allied health, e-commerce, not-for-profit, and everything in between. I've run campaigns, built brands, managed content strategies, facilitated training programs, and delivered results for clients from solo operators to large organisations.
I've also taught communications and public relations at university level – so I know how to explain complex ideas clearly, whether that's a marketing analytics dashboard or a breathing technique you've never tried before.
What working with me looks like
I'll be honest with you from the start – including about timelines. If you come to me with high hopes and an unrealistic runway, I'll tell you. Not to dampen your enthusiasm, but because I respect your time, your money, and your goals too much to let you chase something that isn't set up to succeed.
What I will do is build a clear, practical plan with you – the action steps, the people involved, the milestones to measure along the way – and then I'll check in regularly to keep us both accountable and make sure we adjust as needed.
Every decision we make will be grounded in data you actually understand, and in what's genuinely right for your business and for you as a person.
Results that matter
An environmental consultant in Western Australia came to me wanting to grow her client base in a field dominated by much bigger players. We focused her LinkedIn presence and created a sharp video presentation – and her business grew so fast she needed to bring in a partner.
An HR professional juggling a demanding career and a child with complex mental health needs found her way to my yoga mat. Some sessions she would just lay on her back and cry. But she kept coming back – and she kept moving forward. That's what the right tool at the right time can do for a person.
When I'm not working
You'll find me at the beach with Buddy, my dog, most summer mornings. Or in a group fitness class – Body Combat is my current obsession.
I believe that how you move your body and how you run your business are more connected than most people realise.
